Creating and Using the Articulator

The Genira articulator is a simple hinged articulator designed for the functional assessment of occlusion. An elastic band provides tension across the hinge, allowing mandibular opening and closing, protrusive movement, and lateral excursions. An M5 screw can be used to adjust the vertical separation between the upper and lower models.

Generating an Articulator Model

Generate an articulator model by selecting Hinged Articulator in the Attachments menu when editing a Template.

Operating the Articulator

To operate the articulator, criss-cross an elastic band over the notches at the back of the model. The M5 screw can then be used to adjust the vertical separation of the bite. Applying a layer of plastic tape to one of the hinge surfaces may improve the smoothness of movement.
